Keto for diabetes?
A lot of people have raised the question, “Can I do the ketogenic diet if I have diabetes?” While the answer to this question may vary depending on whether or not you have Type I diabetes or Type II diabetes, there is quite a bit of research out there on this topic. While I am not a medical provider and cannot provide medical advise, there is certainly no problem making sure that this information is readily available to the general public. As such, I have taken the liberty of posting my husband’s graduate school literature review on this exact topic here. He is currently a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner (formerly a primary care Nurse Practitioner who worked in family practice).
This review discusses and specifically references a number of studies that discuss the use of the ketogenic diet as a primary intervention for the type II diabetic (sorry type I diabetic folk). While there is newer and even more reassuring research out there today for both the type I and type II diabetic individual, this should shine a bright light on the approach of using the ketogenic diet as a primary intervention and just how successful it has been. I hope you all enjoy reading this paper as it took him a great deal of effort to research and compile.
